利比里亞孔子學(xué)院在孔子學(xué)院總部（國(guó)家漢辦）的領(lǐng)導(dǎo)和支持下，由中國(guó)長(zhǎng)沙理工大學(xué)與利比里亞大學(xué)合作建設(shè)，于2008年12月在利比里亞首都蒙羅維亞揭牌成立。這是利比里亞開辦的第一所孔子學(xué)院，也是中非友好合作的春雨催生的又一株新苗。

學(xué)院將依托利比里亞大學(xué)和長(zhǎng)沙理工大學(xué)兩所高校的深厚文化底蘊(yùn)及學(xué)術(shù)傳統(tǒng)，以傳承傳播漢語及中國(guó)文化為根本，為當(dāng)?shù)厝藢W(xué)習(xí)漢語和中國(guó)文化提供服務(wù)，增強(qiáng)當(dāng)?shù)氐臐h語教育和學(xué)術(shù)標(biāo)準(zhǔn)，為中利教育合作及人文交流搭建起一個(gè)互動(dòng)的平臺(tái)，使中利兩國(guó)的文化可以互相借鑒，促進(jìn)中利友好關(guān)系的發(fā)展。

學(xué)院近期主要為利比里亞大學(xué)提供基礎(chǔ)漢語教學(xué)，屬于非學(xué)歷教育，教學(xué)重點(diǎn)是漢語基礎(chǔ)知識(shí)及中國(guó)文化入門，目前正在面向社會(huì)開設(shè)短期培訓(xùn)課程，包括不同程度的中文教學(xué)、旅游及商業(yè)漢語。今后如時(shí)機(jī)成熟，長(zhǎng)沙理工大學(xué)將通過孔子學(xué)院為利比里亞大學(xué)提供漢語專業(yè)和公共漢語的學(xué)歷教學(xué)，并合作進(jìn)行學(xué)術(shù)研究。

Confucius Institute of theUniversityofLiberia

Under the leadership and support of the Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban), the Confucius Institute of the University of Liberia was jointly constructed by Changsha University of Science & Technology and University of Libera, will soon be launched in Monrovia, Libera in December, 2008. It is the first Confucius Institute in Libera, also a new bud of the friendly cooperation betweenChinaand African countries.

Relying on the deep root of the cultural tradition ofChangshaUniversityof Science & Technology and theUniversityofLibera, the Confucius Institute of University of Libera will take spreading Chinese language and culture as its basic mission. It is to provide service for the natives to study Chinese language and culture, to strength the academic standard of Chinese language education, and to build a interactive terrace for Sino-Libera cooperation of education and humanities exchanges. On this basis, the two countries can learn from each other and promote the friendly relation of development between the two nations.

The institute is mainly to provide basic Chinese language teaching for theLiberaUniversityin the near future, which belongs to non-educational-background education. The main purpose is to help get a Chinese language foundation and Chinese culture primer. It has set up some short-term training courses to the society, including Chinese language teaching, tour and business Chinese language of different levels right now. As time is propitious,ChangshaUniversityof Science & Technology, through the Confucius Institute, will provide the educational background teaching of Chinese language profession and public Chinese language for theLiberiaUniversityand combine to carry on academic researches.
