“China-Africa Friendship” CSC General Scholars Initiative CSUST Professional Development Project
I. An Introduction to “China-Africa Friendship” CSC General Scholars Initiative
In order to realize the consensus of China-Africa Cooperation forum Beijing Summit 2018, to enhance the educational exchanges and cooperation on transport area, support and encourage talents in Africa to study in China, and cultivate professional elites on transport for Africa, Chinese Ministry of Transport and Ministry of Education have designed “China-Africa Friendship” short-term training program for professional elites on transport operated by China Scholarship Council.
II. An Introduction to Changsha University of Science & Technology
Changsha University of Science & Technology(CSUST) was established in 1956. Boasting of a history of over 60 years, CSUST distinguishes itself as an engineering-centered multidisciplinary university, integrating the distinctive characteristics of the following industries: transportation, power industry, hydrological industry and light industry. It has established a multi-level running pattern and education system for the nurturing of all-round application-oriented topnotch professionals, with a stronghold in undergraduate education, the fast development of post-doctoral science as well as post-graduate education and overall development of other fields of education. The university is twice listed among the “National Fundamental Capacity Construction Projects for Universities in Middle and Western Regions”. It has nurtured nearly 400,000 graduates, making their contributions for the regional and social economic development. CSUST has widely explored international cooperation and exchange. Up to now, it has established exchange and cooperation relationship with some 70 institutions of higher learning and research institutions from over 20 countries and regions, including the United States of America, the United Kingdom, France, Canada, Russia, Hong Kong SAR, Macao SAR, and the Taiwan region, etc. It is accredited to enroll and train international students under China Government Scholarship Programs. We have three Confucius Institutes jointly operating with University of Montenegro, University of Liberia, and University of Sabah Malaysia.
III. An Introduction to School of Traffic & Transportation Engineering
School of Traffic and Transportation at Changsha University of Science and Technology offers 1 post-doctoral research station, 1 primary discipline authorized for the doctoral degree, 4 secondary disciplines authorized for doctoral degree, and 9 secondary disciplines for master’s degree. Traffic Transportation major is first-class major at national level and Hunan provincial key major. It is included into more than 7 “teaching quality” programs at national level: “national excellent courses”, “experimental projects of innovative talent cultivation” “national teaching teams”, “national outstanding teachers” and “national experimental teaching demonstration centers”. It is also involved in more than 10 “teaching quality” programs at provincial level. “Subgrade and Pavement Engineering” and “Surveying Engineering” are listed in Hunan provincial excellent courses.

V. The Coverage of Scholarship
The Chinese government provides the accepted trainees with scholarships, based on the stipulations of CSC General Scholars Initiative, to cover their tuition, living expenses, accommodation and comprehensive medical insurance. International round-trip expenses are paid by the trainees themselves.
VI. Application Requirement
1. Citizens of African country who are friendly to China are eligible to apply;
2. Applicants should be in good health;
3. Applicants should have relevant profession knowledge or relevant professional management background;
4. Applicants should be conferred a high school graduation or above, or submit a proof of administrator in a government agency before they are accepted;
5. Applicants should be under the age of forty-five.
VII. Application Procedures
1.Apply online at https://csust.17gz.org/member/login.do and submit all your application documents to CSUST before the deadline.
2.Apply online at CSC Information Management System for International Students before the deadline, online application portal is http://www.campuschina.org/ .
3.The result of the review will be released through email from CSUST after final approval.
VIII. Application Documents
1. Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship (written in English );
2. Notarized highest diploma;
Prospective diploma recipients must submit official document issued by your current school to prove your current student status or expected graduation date. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations.
3. Academic transcripts (written in Chinese or English);
Transcripts in language other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations.
4. A Study Plan or Research Proposal (written in English);
This should be a minimum of 800 words for postgraduate program applicants.
5. Curriculum Vitae;
6. Front page of the valid passport (Please make sure your passport is valid for at least 6 months and has blank visa pages.);
7. Foreign Physical Examination Form (photocopy) (The original copy will be kept by yourself and the form is uniformly printed by Chinese healthy quarantine departments. It must be written in English and can be downloaded from See appendix .)
The physical examinations must cover all of the items in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete forms or forms without the signature of the attending physician, or the official stamp of the hospital, or a sealed photograph of the applicant are considered as invalid. Please carefully plan your physical examination schedule as the result is valid for only 6 months.
8. A valid blood test report;
9. Other supporting materials, such as publications, awards, certificate of employment/internship, etc.;

X. Certificate
After having completed all the credit courses, the trainee will be issued a completion certificate of China-Africa Friendship Initiative by Changsha University of Science & Technology.

Scholarship Information System
Step 1: Visit http://www.csc.edu.cn/studyinchina or www.campuschina.org and click “Scholarship Application Online for International Students”.
Step 2: Read “Tips for online application” carefully before clicking “NEXT” to the registration page.
Step 3: Log in with your user name and password. For new user, please click “Create an account” for registration.
Step 4: Fill in the correct Program Category and Agency Number. An Agency Number represents a specific application receiving agency and a correct choose of Program Category is necessary before filling in the Agency Number. Please make sure you fill it in correctly, otherwise you will not be able to continue your online application or your application will not be accepted.
Your ‘Program Category’ is: Type A and ‘Agency Number’ is 0027. Once the correct ‘Agency Number’ is entered, the name of the agency will automatically emerge.
Step 5: Fill in the Online Application Form and Upload Supporting Documents truly, correctly and completely following the steps listed on the left of the page.
Applicants are required to select a discipline before choosing their majors. Please refer to the Discipline Index, which could be downloaded from Help, if you have any doubt about the discipline and majors.
Step 6: Check each part of your Application carefully before submitting it. Click Submit to submit your Application. The submitted documents will be the only reference for the applied universities to confirm the admission.
Step 7: You can make changes to your application by clicking Withdraw and Edit the Application on the top of the page. But make sure to submit it again by clicking Submit after finishing all the changes. Otherwise, the retrieved application will become invalid and your new application will not be received either.
Step 8: You can download and print the completed Application Form by clicking Print the Application Form.
Step 9: Send the paper application form and other supporting documents to the dispatching authorities if they require you to do so.
